Massage therapy license requirements vary from state to state, and the laws are constantly changing. It's our current understanding that, in Washington, D.C., 12 massage therapy continuing education hours are required every 2 years for professional license renewal, which includes 3 hours of ethics and 9 hours in massage-related course work.
It is also our understanding that 3 of the 9 massage-related continuing education hours can be completed through our home study programs as well as the 3 hour ethics requirement.
If you would like to verify this information, or have further questions regarding your massage therapy continuing education requirements, we suggest contacting the D.C. Board of Massage directly. The telephone number for the D.C. Board is 877-672-2174 or visit their website at http://hpla.doh.dc.gov.
Remember, the Institute for Integrative Healthcare Studies is approved by the NCBTMB as a continuing education Approved Provider (#049478-00). All of our continuing education programs can be used for your National Certification renewal.
