National Recertification is required every 4 years. The NCBTMB requires 48 continuing education hours to renew your certification. Six of the 48 required continuing education hours must be in ethics. Of these 6 hours, at least 2 hours must address Standard V of the NCBTMB's Standards of Practice. This is the Roles and Boundaries Standard. This requirement can be met by taking both our Ethics: Therapeutic Relationships and Ethics: Practice Management programs.
In addition to continuing education requirements, two hundred hours of “Hands-On”
Work Experience in therapeutic massage and bodywork is
mandatory during the 4 year recertification period.
If you would like to verify this information, or have further questions regarding your massage therapy continuing education requirements, we suggest contacting the National Board directly. The telephone number for the NCBTMB is 800-296-0664.
